Purpose 

Responsible for the design of drilling mud and completion fluids.

Responsibilities

•Designs, tests, and maintains drilling and completion fluid systems on an oil or gas rig.

•They prevent wellbore instability, control downhole pressures, and ensure safe drilling by constantly monitoring mud weight, viscosity, and chemical properties.

•Conduct daily fluid checks for density, viscosity, gel strengths, salinity, and solids control to keep mud properties within the target drilling window.

•Adjust mud parameters to maintain Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) and prevent kicks or lost circulation.

•Prepare daily mud reports and comprehensive end-of-well summaries.

•Ensure strict adherence to environmental and safety regulations regarding chemical handling and waste management.

KPIs

•100% fluid efficiency, system reliability, contamination control, and cost

Qualifications

•7+ yrs fluid engineering experience; IWCF L3/4; BOSIET/HUET; H2S.
