Dr Chukwueloka Umeh is an Engineer with a differ- ence. Apart from being very hands-on, he is also an academic. His Engineering degrees include a BEng in Electronics Engineering from the University of Nigeria, a BSc in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida, and an MSc and Ph.D. in Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytech- nic Institute, Troy, New York. Dr Umeh is an Executive Director in the Nestoil Group. He oversees the Group’s Pipeline, Aviation and Power businesses.
In this interview with Nestoil News, Dr Umeh focuses on the pipeline business for which Nestoil is better known in the industry as the ’king of the swamps’. Over the years, Dr Umeh has observed the steady growth of indigenous companies in the Oil and Gas industry and declares that: “the Local Content Revolution is Here and Real”. Can you name some of the daunting projects Nestoil has executed in recent times?
One of them would certainly be the 40km K2S project. This was the Kolo Creek to Soku Gas Plant, an EPC project to build an export pipeline to reroute gas from the Kolo creek gas area to the Soku gas plant facility for Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria (SPDC). Nestoil signed this project at the end of 2012.
